How Baccarat Works
In baccarat you bet on one of three outcomes: the Player hand winning, the Banker hand winning, or a Tie. Two hands are dealt and the one closest to nine wins — you don't play a hand yourself, which is what makes baccarat so approachable. Card values are simple: tens and face cards count as zero, aces as one.
The Banker bet has the lowest house edge at roughly 1.06% (even after the standard 5% commission on Banker wins). The Player bet sits at about 1.24%. The Tie bet pays 8:1 but carries a much larger house edge of around 14% — it is best avoided.
Baccarat Strategy for SA Players
The optimal baccarat strategy is refreshingly short: bet Banker, skip the Tie. Because the game is almost even money, it's ideal for clearing straightforward bonus play — though always confirm which games count toward wagering requirements. Baccarat sits alongside blackjack and roulette in the table games library.
