Casino terms glossary
Every casino term you'll meet on this site — and at the cashier — defined without the jargon.
The essentials
RTP (Return to Player). The % of wagers a game returns over the very long run. 96% RTP = 4% house edge.
House edge. The casino's built-in mathematical advantage — why the house wins over time.
RNG. Random number generator; the software that makes each result independent and random.
Wagering / playthrough. How many times you must bet a bonus before withdrawing (e.g. 40×).
Volatility / variance. How a game pays — low = frequent small wins, high = rare big wins.
Bonuses
No-deposit bonus. Bonus funds just for signing up, usually with a max cash-out cap.
Deposit match. A bonus matching a % of your deposit.
Max cash-out. The most you can withdraw from a bonus win.
Game weighting. How much each game contributes to wagering (slots ~100%, table games less).
Banking & account
KYC / FICA. Identity verification (ID + proof of address) required before payouts.
Instant EFT. A fast bank transfer method (e.g. Ozow, SiD) popular in South Africa.
Progressive jackpot. A prize pool that grows from every bet until someone wins it.
